The South East London Workforce Development Hub is offering fully supported training opportunities to become an NHS Advanced Practitioner (AP).

Digital Badges

Existing Advanced Practitioners may claim a digital badge from the NHSE website.

ePortfolio Route

The ePortfolio Route allows existing Advanced Practitioners to gain recognition with the Centre of Advancing Practice.

Supervisors

An identified supervisor is essential - and ideally they should have completed or be willing to complete the Multi-professional Supervisor's Course if they are new to supervision.

If the supervisor is a GP without any teaching qualification, again ideally they should have completed, or be willing to undertake the ISLA training.

This is a standard that needs to be put in place to ensure quality supervision for the AP programme.

Information for employers

NHSE Employer Readiness - a document to help employers gauge if they are ready to take on the Advanced Practice model

Employers should invoice SELWDH at the end of each academic year, at which point SELWDH will pay the supervision fees of £2,500 for the year.

This funding is available only for the courses outlined in HEE's HEI Prospectus for 2025-26. Funding is restricted to universities based in London.
