Multi-Professional Supervisor Course

Are you an aspiring supervisor / educator in primary care?

Course Overview

NHS England’s London Multi-Professional Supervisor Course is for all non-GP roles in primary care, and for any clinician who supports learners as an educational supervisor.

The course consists of four in-person study days held over a three-month period:

  • Day 1: Course introduction, preparing to teach and facilitate in the workplace.
  • Day 2: Understanding and navigating the challenges to supervision; core concepts in lesson planning and teaching.
  • Day 3: Interprofessional education and assessment.
  • Day 4: Peer review, portfolio review and discussion, next steps.

Eligibility and Suitability

Participants must meet the following entry requirements for admission on to the course:

  • Not be a GP
  • Work in a learning environment in primary care and wish to become a Primary Care Educator
  • Hold previous mentor, supervision and education experience related to their clinical speciality.
  • Able to attend all four, in-person workshops of the course and will complete any pre-reading or summative work as part of the course.

Course dates

There are three intakes for the Multi-professional supervisors course each year:

  • January – April
  • April – July
  • September – December

Please note you will need to be able to attend all days to be eligible to apply and successfully complete the programme.

How to apply

To express an interest in attending the Multi-Professional Supervisors Course please complete the Expression of Interest form. Please note places are confirmed roughly 2 months before the course start date and so any EOIs submitted after this deadline will be submitted for the subsequent programme.

Next steps on completion of the course

On completion of the course, you will attend a group accreditation panel are expected to join your borough’s Multi-Professional Faculty Group (MPEF).
