With increasing demand for contraceptive services in General Practice, this course equips clinicians with the skills to confidently counsel and manage contraception safely. Enhance your understanding of different methods, prescribing practices, and assess your competency in delivering this vital care.

Provide safe, tailored contraceptive advice and care.
Confidently counsel patients on their options.
Assess their own competency in offering contraception within their role.
Learning Outcomes -
Understand contraceptive methods and mechanisms by describing various options, their mechanisms of action, and their role in preventing pregnancy and, in some cases, sexually transmitted infections.
Provide tailored contraceptive care by adapting advice to align with individual health needs, cultural considerations, and personal preferences.
Practice non-judgmental history-taking by conducting compassionate, open conversations to ensure safe and appropriate contraceptive choices for each individual.
Assess safety and risk factors by applying UKMEC guidelines to evaluate the suitability, risks, and contraindications of different contraceptive methods.
Manage routine contraceptive care by demonstrating competence in assessing patients, providing safe prescribing, making referrals, and implementing failsafe measures.
Seek further support when needed by identifying when to escalate complex cases or safeguarding concerns and accessing appropriate resources and expert guidance.
