Monitoring physical measurements and vital signs help us to understand how our body is functioning and to detect and monitor any health issues as well as alerting health care professionals to any possible concerns.   This is an introductory session on taking patient’s physical measurements and vital signs and developing clinical skills in a safe environment.

 

Aim: To gain an understanding of what physical measurements and vital signs are, why they are undertaken and to practice how to accurately perform these and document the results.

 

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, you will:

 

  • Understand what physical measurements are and what they mean.
  • Learn about vital signs, why and how we take these.
  • Identify what equipment is needed. 
  • Understand and practice how to assemble and use the equipment. 
  • Take physical measurements and vital signs and accurately record the results.
