Deteriorating Patients and Sepsis
About the event
Sepsis is a life-threatening reaction to an infection and happens when your immune system overreacts to the infection and starts to damage your body's own tissues and organs. Each year in the UK, there are 48,000 sepsis related deaths and another 245,000 people are affected by sepsis each year. However, deaths could be avoided by quicker diagnosis and treatment.
Aim of Session:
To explore sepsis, the signs and symptoms of a deteriorating patient and how to get the right treatment at the right time.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Identify that sepsis is a medical emergency.
- Understand the signs and symptoms in your patients and know how to record these.
- Determine how to escalate your concerns and the course of action that may be required.
