Travel Health Training

Build your Knowledge and Confidence in Travel Health

Whether you are new to travel health or looking to refresh your knowledge, these courses are designed to support you in delivering safe, effective advice and care to patients travelling outside the UK.

The South East London Workforce Development Hub has commissioned these courses from Travel Health Specialist Nurse, Jane Chiodini, who has developed the content based on her extensive experience and expertise in the field.

Introduction to Travel Health

The Introduction to Travel Health Course comprises the two days of learning recommended by the RCN Competency framework publication and follows the curriculum for registered healthcare practitioners as described in the ‘Good Practice Guidance for Providing a Travel Health Service‘ document from the Faculty of Travel Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. The ten point framework of topics for inclusion describing essential training for travel medicine can be viewed on page 33 of the publication (see link above).

This e learning course will take you through these topics, and if you choose to explore all the material, it will increase your knowledge further and may take longer than a two day face to face training programme would have time for.

Travel Health Update

Travel Health is a dynamic field, and staying current is essential. This online platform, created by Jane, allows learners to update their knowledge at their own pace and revisit materials as often as needed within the access period. The course includes interactive e‑learning, videos, reading, resources, quizzes, time‑out activities and more — all designed by Jane. Most slides include voiceover, closed captions and a script in the notes section, offering multiple ways to learn. Explore the content section for the module details. The material is updated in real time, ensuring you always receive the latest guidance.
