Nurse / Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP)

Prescribing power with purpose.

Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) empowers registered healthcare professionals—including nurses, paramedics, pharmacists and allied health professionals—to prescribe medications safely and independently. If you have a clinical need to prescribe in your current role, NMP training can expand your scope of practice and improve patient care.

Key Points:

  • Open to NMC, HCPC or GPhC-registered clinicians with relevant experience
  • Typically requires at least 1 year post-registration (nurses/midwives) or 3 years (HCPC registrants)
  • Must demonstrate a prescribing need in current role
  • Requires employer support and protected study time
  • Entry requires a 2:2 degree or recent Level 7 study and completion of Advanced Physical Assessment
