How we support GPs in Lambeth

GPs

There are 41 GP surgeries in our borough, organised into nine Primary Care Networks (PCNs), collectively caring for a population of nearly 328,000 residents.

PLTs

We deliver PCN-level PLTs four times a year and borough-wide PLTs four times a year.

Dates for upcoming sessions are available on our PLTs page.

If you have suggestions for future PLT sessions, please share them by completing our Expression of Interest (EoI) form.

GP Fellows

We have a growing number of GP Fellows within the borough and are actively supporting a new-to-practice peer support group. The GP Fellowship scheme is supported across the ICB and SELWDH.

GP Training

We host GP Specialty Trainees (GPSTs) in years 1-4 across every PCN in the borough. Trainees are placed through either the Kings VTS or GSTT VTS programmes.

To become a GP Educational Supervisor, you must be at least two years post-CCT, have completed the GP Supervisors Course. and undertaken a minimum of four clinical sessions per week. You can book the Supervisors Course via the South East London Workforce Development Hub website, or contact the Lambeth Training Hub for further information on the approval process.

GP Trainers participate in trainer workshops across SLOVTS (covering Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark). Please contact us if you would like to join one of these groups.

GSTT VTS teaches takes place on Tuesday afternoon during term time (GPVTS@gstt.nhs.uk), whilst Kings VTS teaching is held on Thursdays (kch-tr.gpvts@nhs.net).

Foundation Doctors

These four-month placements provide an excellent opportunity to support the development of their clinical skills while strengthening their understanding of primary care, community care, and population health.

To become a Foundation Doctor Clinical Supervisor, you must complete a GP Supervisors Course and obtain approval from the Quality Team at our Training Hub. Please contact us for further information.

An annual conference for F2 supervisors is also held each year. Further details can be found on the HEE website.
